How Can you tell the differance between the venomous and non venomous snakes? Most people say that you can tell by the slanted eyes (like a cats) but that is not always true. Snakes like the black and green mamba have circled pupils and are very mush venomous! How can you really tell the differance? IP: Logged |

........ugh, after the bite on the way to the hospital and someone lets you know???!! LOL!! Have no idea, so I went and looked in a search engine. http://extension.usu.edu/publica/natrpubs/nvsnake.pdf Yup, they say for the most part, the slant eyes, and the pits in between the nostrils are the biggees, colors distinguish them as well, and knowing your areas' snakes. But no thanks, they give me the creeps. I like my safe furballs! LOL! God bless. [This message has been edited by Pauline (edited 03-09-2003).] IP: Logged |

Well..as long as I am not in the rain forest...I will go by eye shape. If I was in the jungle...I would just consider them ALL venomous!!! IP: Logged |

thats right if its a diamond shaped head its probably poisonious. and you can also tell by the tail if it all of a sudden gets fat then its also poisonious. theres a rhyme talking about milk snakes and some other snake that looks like it....... it goes: red and yellow kill a fellow red and black venom lack IP: Logged |
