Hi, I have a toy poodle whom I'm trying to breed with a teacup male. They are acquainted after four days of being together. He tries, but can't seem to hit the target. I hold her so that he's the right height...he's on a pillow while I hold her to him. She's either tight, or he can't hit the target and gets worn out trying. What am I doing wrong? Is there something else I can do? And how long is the heat cycle? I noticed her dropping blood five days ago...Is she still in heat? IP: Logged |

first why do you want to breed her? not to mention there is no sich thing as a teacup poodle, thats just a marketing scam. have you done all health tesing with both the male and the female? how old are they? why do you want to breed them? not to mention you obviously have not done your research if you dont even know how long a heat cycle lasts and how it works. and if you dont knows hers I assume this is her first heat. very bad time to breed, just because she is in heat does not mean she is mature enugh to be bred. I have an in season bitch right now as well, its her first heat but I sure as heck aint breeding her now! IP: Logged |

Ok she's no longer in heat.... they bleed for 3 days and then are "acceptant" for 3 days after they bleed...you missed it. If she was in heat, he'd have gotten her already. If your having to hold her she's not in. A female will stand for male when she's ready. A male will "hump" just because he can. Smokey "humps" Char all the time....means nothing other than he's horny, and its natural for them. IP: Logged |

More than apt you missed the cycle .There is nothing to do .Why are you going that route with such a tiny male ? Could have some health problems if they did breed .the smaller the dog the more apt health concerns will arise . I would not breed one until at least over 18 months old and then only if a full check form my vet says she can .Too young and she could have serious problems .Breeding is not just a happening .Should be planned and consider all options and concerns .And you should have known all the facts about cycle first . I hate that word (bitch ) for a female dog .It may be proper to use ,but I do not use it and not because I am religeous but because for some reason it sounds so degrading for a beautiful creature that gives us life and beautiful ,warm ,loving companions .Just my 2 cents on both .
