I recently purchased a twin pair of Pygmy Goat does. They are five months old, and QUITE wild. You can't get near them, because they run away. And if you even grab the leash, they buck and squirm and choke themselves straining against their collars! My family was wondering if there is even hope of taming them. We know how, but we are curious whether or not they are tameable at all past a certain age. Our plans were to get a pair of twin doelings, about 6 weeks old (young enough to tame easy). We were going to tame them to be little pets that we can walk on a leash, perhaps show in 4-H. Did we totally bomb? IP: Logged |

I don't think so at all. I think if they can take 3 year old Mustangs out of the wild and tame them...you can do it with goats. It will just take patience and time. IP: Logged |

Definately patience. Try feeding treats, and small talk. (yes, talk to them) Grabbing them and such will make them wilder, they need to come to you volunteerly. Having them both together is also a problem. They depend on one another for protection, if one runs the other will follow. Separation can help as well. IP: Logged |
