We just came back from the Vet and our 10 year old Black Lab, Sadie was just diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She's going to be on 21 days of antibiotics. Is she contagious at all? Like to other animals or us?

The poor thing....her 10th birthday is tomorrow and she was diagnosed with a bladder infection too.

poor thing, no she is not contagious, I hope she is on the mend soon and Happy 10th birthday to Sadie

I am always worried about lyme disease because we have ticks, I recently read somewhere that the tick has to be on the dog for like 48 hours to transmit it. so because I have 2 light colored dogs I am always giving them a once over for ticks. I it sure would be alot hard to do on a black dog

alot of people try to pull ticks off breaking the ticks's head off under the skin. :( i have found that if you roll the tick in a counter clockways rotation with your finger they will release .

We never found a tick.....we don't even know when she got Lyme's. All they could tell us was she tested negative last year at this time....and tested positive this year.

Poor little thing. We took her to the vet because her leg was bothering her, and she needed her distemper booster.....she ended up being diagnosed with a really bad uti and lymes disease....and she had her little anal glands cleaned out too....not a very fun day before her birthday.

But...we're thankful she can recover and will be healthy!

    Thank you for your replies!!
