She's Gone... And my heart's broke...

Last night I had to put down my little dog Tiffany... She has been with me 13 years... And was the most loyal companion...

Don't know how I'll get along without her... She went everywhere with me... Even to work every day...

Just gotta be satisfied that she had a darn good life... I guess...

Yesterday morning at this time she was throwing her squeaky at me - wanting to play. This morning I will build a fire, to thaw the ground where I will bury her...

    My heart is broken...

My dog's name was also Tiffany, and I know how horrible it is to have to say good-bye, and know it'll be a while before you see her again, but you WILL. My Tiffany was a tri-color Sheltie, and she was 15. It never gets any easier, no matter how many dear animal friends you lose, and I've lost plenty in my 50 years. They are all so individual with their own precious personalities. Its been about five years since I lost my Tiffany, but she'll always be right next to my heart. It does take a while, and the pain never goes away completely, but one day you'll be able to smile when you think about the wonderful memories.

As I move around my house today I am reminded of her everywhere...

When I left a room, she followed... I would have to tell her to stay, or she would not stay resting... All of her 13 years...

No matter when I looked at her, she'd see me... Even when I tried to sneak a peek, her tail would start wagging... A constant connection...

I'm so sorry Cheryl...I had to put my nearly 12 year old Shepherd, Sadie, down yesterday too.
All day today I kept expecting to see her. At 5 pm her dinnertime I actually opened the cupboard to get her food.
It's hard isn't it. Sadie was the first pet I put down as my others all had the good grace to pass in their sleep. It's very difficult. My husband and son didn't even know until they got home cause it happened so quickly.
Speed to them both....maybe they'll meet at the bridge

My Sympathies to you Mary... I can truly say I know how you are feeling... Tiffy is the first one I had to put down too...

Everytime one of the other pets moves by, I expect it to be her... She was never far away. I can still feel her little feet on my leg, as she stood up to get my attention... It was all said in a look. After all those years they know the drill...

I haven't brought myself to eat yet - cause she always sat at my feet from preparation on, hoping for a treat...

Again I fall back on my theory (hope)... A book I once read on near death experiences, said that 75% of the people met up with their lost pets during their experience... [-o<

I hope they are walking the streets to heaven, and while they are waiting for us to join them.. they are in good hands.

Every time I would have a shower… I would arrange one towel like a pillow beside the tub and Tiffy would curl up on it… And I would wrap the the second towel over top of her… Then at the end of the shower, she would watch me and waiting until I finished wrapping my hair in a towel, and then put one leg up on the edge of the tub… Then she would lick my leg from ankle to knee… My little leg-dryer I would coo…

    Ahhh... Missed rituals... :-({|=
