My mother guppy is quiet big AGAIN. I think she will be ready any time now. She is acting strange (just like she did the first time). The fry are getting so big I will try to post new pictures soon. Probibly not in tell next week though.

How are your fry doing?? I want mine to start showing other colors soon. Black is all I see for now, but I hope it will be soon.

I have not lost any of the fry. I still have 26 (YEEPEE!!)

I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi again! My fry are growing quite big. So far I only have 2 red tails, 2 purple, 1 yellow and one half red half purple (might have to keep that one) and the other 20 or so are still only showing black. I have moved them out of the 5 gal and into my mom's big 29 gal. I started to feel bad, they could hardly swim any more in the little tank with out running into a sibling!

Are you planning on keeping your next batch of fry? I'll try to post some pics here soon too.

I am not sure but I only have a 5 gal at home. I have 13 of the fry in it now. I do not think I should put more than that. I have one that is so much bigger than the rest. He/She? is almost as big as my non-fancy guppy -feeder guppy-(she is a little .10 I bought so my mom would have company). I am not sure what I am going to do. I hope they start to show some color soon. I can not wait to see colors. WHERE ARE ALL THE COLORS - I AM LOOKING AND JUST I DO NOT SEE ANY COLOR YET :( . Poor fry they are getting big though :D - I guess I have to wait a week or two for any other colors beside black to show up.

Please post pics. I will try to post soe pictures this weekend.

I AM GLAD YOUR FRY ARE DOING GREAT WOW THEY GET A 29 GAL ALL TO THEMSELVES??? LUCKY FRY I GUESS.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi! I have one giant one and one very tiny guy (the deformed one) the rest are about the same size at the moment. And no, the 29 has lots of other residents. Its my mom's tank and she has black skirt tetras, gold tetras, danios, white clouds, algae eaters, a female betta, panda cories, and rummynose tetras. The babies do add some fun life to the top of the tank though! It's gonna sound mean but I'm hoping to have them all at their permanent homes (I have a lot of friends that think they're cool and an lfs that will buy them from me) by mid to late may. My pics are bad but the tank gets a lot of window light so its very hard to take pics of. And only one of the red tailed ones was out for the pic.

TINA I AM SO EXCITED TO TELL YOU I HAVE NEW FRY AGAIN    ! i AM NOT SURE IF MY MOM ATE SOME THIS WEEKEND OR NOT BUT THERE ARE 7 AS OF TODAY. IT IS SOOOOOO TRUE THAT SHE CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE BATCH OF FRY WITH OUT A MALE BECAUSE MY MALE DIED RIGHT BEFORE SHE HAD HER 1ST BATCH OF FRY 5 WEEKS AGO.

Your fry look great. Cool strips (I think that is stripes). I have one who has some red comming. But other that that I am still waiting to see more colors. In the one tank at home I have only 2 males out of 13 -I think. I am not sure about the tank at work. But I will try to see tomarrow at work. We are testing the students this week so I do not have a lot of time.

I hope to get to teh pictures Thursday. Sorry with work and testing than school and finals (and my son has been sick). I am so tired. BUT STILL EXCITED!!!!!!!

I hope to hear from you again soon.

Oops, sorry I should have said something. The striped fish is a zebra danio, the fry are behind him. Congrats on your new fry! I don't have the energy (or room) to take care of another batch just yet.

Well DUH on my part I was woundering. But your fry look great. I will post a pic in a few minutes.

I know it takes so much work. I am so involved (what a good fish mommy - just kidding). But I am doing all I can to keep them happy and healthy. I wounder if she can have more (I have not replaced my male since before the first batch of fry. I want to see how many batches of fry she can have with out a male.

By the way I i am jellous because ony one male si showing color so far. But they are getting huge. Now that I have another set I can see just how much they have grown.

    hiya,

Your males are Lyre guppies. My boyfriend got me two of them and there great! They have a tail like a V. Aparently, its only the male gene that carries the V tail.
You'll never see a female like that. also, if your Lyre guppy breeds with a female, she could give birth to fan tail gupies or lyre. Depends what she fancies at the time i spose!

The frayed tails is fin nipping from the tetras.
My tetra do it to my betta splenda and my guppies, before the guppies had their own home. I watched a tetra hold on for dear life to aguppies tail and when it let go it took half my male tail with it! :!:
your water quality will not affect it.
I found that, feeding your tetra more flake will stop them going for a min night snack when your not looking.
i also do this while my guppies is pooping out babbies, so she doesnt feel the need to feast on her twins! -she has only given me two babies! hehe.

    Take care.

Hmmmm... thanks for your input on my problem Amy. I'm actually thinking it's my other male lyre tail. I've seen him chasing the males and females several times and he has NEVER had any tail damage. I might just put him into quarantine to find out if he is doing it. I've never seen my tetras go after my guppies but I guess it's possible. Anyhow, welcome to the group. Its nice to have you here!
