I have a kitten who is 5 months old -- Since yesterday morning, she has done nothing but meow constantly unless i do something to take her mind off of whatever it is. They are soft meows and some really loud meows. She is being overly affectionate and wanting me to pet her all the time. However, something new I noticed is that when i pet her, she is arching her back legs up and sticking her butt up at me (not something she normally does)... And i noticed that her "female delicates" are a little moist. She has not been spayed yet, I have an appointment for her next month. I'm wondering if anyone knows what this may be, if maybe she is going into heat for the first time or if someone had an experience where it could be something else. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've been fortunate enough to never have a cat go into heat (spayed by 6 months...so I've been lucky and yours is younger than that)...but sounds like first heat to me.
Be sure she doesn't get outside as she's much to young to risk a pregnancy. Will your vet spay while they are in heat and move the appointment up? Sometimes it costs more, some vets won't do it.
She could do this for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for responding :) She doesn't go outside at all, so I dont worry about her getting pregnant. I dont know if the vet will take her earlier, i'm going to call tomorrow. But thanks so much for the response. If anyone else out there might know anything else, please reply. Thanks yall.

Hi and welcome to Auspet. :D I agree with Mary_NH. She seems like she's in heat right now. Let us know what the vet says. Do you have any pics you can post of her?

Also, this may sound a bit odd, but if you have a wool sweater, give it to her and see if she will knead and sleep on it. Although each cat is different it may help calm her down a bit.

I dont have a wool sweather i dont think... at night, she will come right up to me and lay on my bed -- she isn't meowing then. I do not have any pics of her right now, but she is 1/2 siamese, and i am guessing 1/2 calico (because of her stripes on her tail). Thanks again for everything! [/img]

Does it cost money to post pics on here? If so, I'd love to, but I live in the south, where you live paycheck to paycheck lol... So i wouldn't be able to do it now.

as an admirer of Siamese cats - can't wait to see her pictures.
Isn't just the south that lives paycheck to paycheck - I'm in the northeast and it's like that here too :x

being part meezer you're in for a "treat". I feel fortunate to never have one go into heat but knowing people who have you will be hearing some nasty yowling noises - be prepared LOL better you than me!!!

OMG I had totally forgotten about that howl! My mother had a Siamese when I was young and when ever she would go into heat, you'd think it was a wild animal you were hearing. Siamese have a moan all their own. It's very throaty and gutteral.
