Have you ever had a cat that never purrs?

Booger never purrs. I've had cats most of my life and Booger is the first one that I've ever had that never purrs. On two or three occasions I thought I heard her purr when her tummy was flat up against my ear, but I don't think she purrs at all.

Is this unusual? A cat that doesn't purr?

I've never heard Kyrre purr either, but I can feel the vibrations when he is in my lap :)

Artemis only purrs when he's sleeping. He immediately stops if you touch him. Moe, on the other hand, will purr at the drop of a hat. I just need to tell her how pretty she is and she starts purring.

I've had Zoe for a few years now. I never thought she purred. But, recently, I had my ear close to her nose and I actually heard the slightest whisper of a purr coming from her.

It was so faint and I couldn't feel the vibration, but she actually purred!

My other cats, however, purr easily and loudly.

I guess Zoe isn't the only cat out there like that. I always thought it was odd.

Footsie never purred audibly until recently.

He recently had a surgery and had to wear and e-collar for a couple weeks. In that time he was very gratefull when we'd rub his head and he'd purr and purr! It was like a different cat. He's had the collar off for a while now but he's still purring. Its like he finally figured out how.

Awww. Sounds like Footsie's a changed kitty. How is his ear?

Rene is just like Kyrre. She's my only one that barely purrs.

Its healing, although it will never match the other one, at least it isn't flopped over any more, just all wrinkled. He still has a small hematoma down at the base of the ear, but the vet didn't recomend a second surgery. It doesn't seem to bother him in the least and he's more than happy to have his ears rubbed as if there was never any problem.

Is Footsie's wrinkling permanent? As long as it doesn't bother him, I guess he'll be just fine. Hopefully, the small hematoma will resolve soon.

Yes, its premanent, although we don't yet know the extent. Right now its looking almost normal. But when the blood reabsorbs from the smaller hematoma, it could get worse looking again.

I think it gives him a bit of character. Now, he looks like the hoodlum that he really is. :)

I'll have to post a picture sometime soon.

My Cosmo used to purr all the time, but however he stopped when we got Midget, Midget now is the one that purrs all the time!

I must admit i was very sad when Cosmo stopped purring cause there's nothing nicer then to stir in bed at night and wake up to him curled up next to me purring, it's the most affectionate, and warming sound when they lay with you.

Kitty’s pur is VERY soft. You have to strain your ears to hear it. Tiger on the other hand doesn’t stop purring. He purrs when he eats, he purrs when you pick him up, he purrs when he sleeps! And his purr is quite loud too.

Actually, that’s what happened with I got Tiger, Kitty purrs less often now, and it’s really soft. She never had a loud purr, but its softer than it used to be.
