first Lady and Baby headed home today. They are going to Virginia, to separate homes, to live long happy loved lives. That's a good thing - but I miss them.
I did go to evaluate another meezer in need. A beautiful loving gorgeous wedgie sealpoint boy. Absolutely gorgeous.
His owner fell onto financial difficulties and hadn't vetted the 8 year old boy in 5 years. And he has asthma.
His breathing was very labored when I got there but with petting and my relaxed nature (around cats) he settled down quickly and his breathing appeared a little more calm. He was purring, giving eye kisses, so loving.
Shortly after I got home and did the intake request to rescue I got a phone call from the shelter.
ZZ had grown worse after I left. He was a bit sneezy while we were there and apparently after I left the sneezing got worse. With his asthmatic condition, and a potential URI on the way, they decided it was more humane to let him go
I did agree, especially having seen firsthand the difficulties he was having with breathing. I wouldn't be able to get him out of the shelter until I got the okay from rescue and then even with that I couldn't possibly get him until Monday. That would have been 2 more days sitting in the shelter, then add the stress of the trip here, his getting used to being here - the stress would have kept building up adding to his already severe breathing issues and a possible URI.
It just wasn't a humane thing to make him suffer through. And then I work full-time so no one would have been here to make sure there weren't going to be any problems.
I know they can't all be saved - but he was such a loving boy.
Please send a prayer for ZZ to have a quick trip to the Bridge.

I'm so sorry. He sure was a cool looking cat. You all did the right thing. At least he is no longer suffering. Doesn't mean you aren't though. :( Hang in there.
