NEW TO THE FORUM

HI TO ALL -Came accross this forum last week and have found it very informative and interesting. We purchased a 50L tank for my sis last dec and I have sort of adopted it till she finds a new place. We have 2 zebra danos and 3 guppies(2 fem 1 male)I recently bought a plastic fish hatchery and have 8 healthy guppy babies growing in it. They are a week old but still tiny. Although they are in the tank which is filtered, I am worried about the bit of gunk that has setled in the bottom of the hatchery. Its a bit hard to clean without letting the little ones out which may be gobbled up by the very active adults. I am waiting for them to grow a bit more before I put them in their own 30 L tank. Any suggestions?

take a container full it with the water from that tank then scoop them in to the container then clean the plastic fish hatchery then place them back in

They are just a bit hard to scoop up with the net. But they look healthy and clean.
By the way all the fish including the babies enjoy the frozen shrimp food a couple of times a week.
I have a few plants as well. I took the lead weights off and instead keep them together with an elastic band buried under the gravel. Hope this is ok.

do they have roots yet ?
because if they do i would not have anything on them

 

HI-The new plants dont have roots except for the driftwood. I would have to dig out the older ones to see if they have roots. Do you suggest I dig them out and take the elastic off them?I am not sure how to keep them from floating apart from adding new gravel, but then I heard too much gravel isnt good. Thanks
