Many nights I am woken up by my cat trying to eat my hair while I sleep. Anyone have any idea why she might do that and how I can get her to stop?

I had a cat that used to do that too. I don't know why she did it, but I ended up tying my hair into a ponytail at night and she stopped. Hopefully someone else will pipe in with more advice soon. Good luck with it!

Hi. Sometimes "minty smelling" hair products (shampoos and so on) can attract cats. If you don't use "minty" products, I suppose your cat is just a hair lover. My wife had a wig from Halloween a few years back and all three cats were attacking it like crazy. That wig was being dragged all over the house for days on end. By the time they were done with it, it looked like a big brown afro. Perhaps you cold give your cat a wig or a stuffed animal if the hair biting doesn't stop. If you do opt for a wig, be careful that your cat is not swallowing a bunch of hair, as this can cause problems.

Yes Chessmind is right, minty hair products could attact your cat, one of my cat loves mint, I once brought some minty shampoo and he started biting my head, drooling and purring!

Other than that I have no idea why she would eat your hair - sorry

My cat Hunter chews at my hair at night. He is doing it because he doesn't like the way I am sleeping so he wants me to wake up and move to a suitable place for him.
Yes...I am completly trained by my cat!!!!

Interesting thing too about Hunter is that he will use any means necessary to wake me up when I am not sleeping the way he wants me to be sleeping so he can get into the bed. He will scratch on the air vents....he will scratch the furniture.

So, maybe your kitty is trying to say "Wake up Meow-my and move so I can sleep in your neck!!!"
    LOL

One of my cats used to 'groom' my hair, Id be sitting on the couch, he'd come up behind me and start grooming, if I tried to move I got both front paws planted on my head, and the claws came out to 'keep me still', he did the same thing to my daughter, my whippet, my cocker mix and the other cat....and any visitors that came over.

I think he must have been a hairdresser in his previous life
