when i first got Mini, Max used to attack her and she would run and hide. but recently, she has been attacking him and scaring him. he runs away from her all the time. he is not hissing or anything. he is making a rrrrroooooo sound with his mouth closed.it is the same sound he makes when he is not sure of something. he is always looking behind him to see where she is or if she is going to attack. today, she attacked him and bit down on the side of his face and he ran and i saw a big piece of fur in her mouth. i went and checked on him, his face is ok.
is that normal when they play?
she would jump on him and bite his leg or they would be hugging and rolling on the floor. it is weird because she was the one running away and hiding and now she is not scared at all. she would attack him and if he pushed her away she would attack again and again. i noticed that the more he is afraid of her, the more she attacks. she is only 5 months old and half his size. he is 1 year old, 11 pounds.
does it have anything to do with his teeth that got broken 2 weeks ago?

    thanks

    Hi Eman,
My two do that all the time... sometimes they are playing, but sometimes it a dominanace thing. It's funny how it will shift back and forth between cats.

My new one used to always fall on her back in submission - only the past few months have I noticed her actually chasing the other one. I think its good - sometimes theres hissing and growling, but they have to work it out - as long as they kicking the bejeebus out of one another. :)

See what happens - but the domanance - at least in my house - does go back and forth. I think when one has had enough it will retaliate on the other, and size doesn't matter ;)

I'm not sure about the breaking the teeth thing.

I agree with shnen. My cats do a very similar thing. It does seem to be a dominant thing.

Also, sometimes I think they get jealous of one another when I am giving one attention. It's almost like Mittens doesn't want Socks around when she wants my attention so she will try to be dominant over Socks to get her to leave the room.

My two kitties are sisters and have grown up together and are about 9 years old now. They seem to do it more now than they did when they were younger.

Fortunately, they never hurt one another.

    thank you for replying :D
i guess it is like you said, a dominant thing. and also being jealous, cuz Mini does attack him at bed time and when he leaves the room..she comes sleeping beside me wanting to cuddle.

Sounds like Mini is developing her own personality. :D I just wanted to tell you how much I like your signature! :y_the_best: They are very good opposites!
