Discussion in 'Cats - all breeds / types' started by butterflykisses_2104, Jun 20, 2006.

  1. Are cats suppose to shed all the time like everyday of the year, because i know with dogs its only certain times of the year. does anyone know anything about this?

All animals shed all the time. Not just certain periods of the year. Although at certain times of the year say like springish it can become more pronounced as they are shedding their winter coat and getting ready for summer :)

Shedding allows for dead hair to make way for new ones to grow. Even us humans 'shed' all the time. Ever see all the hair on your brush and or in the shower after you've washed it? That's just the hair on your head we can see,...not to mention all the other littler hairs we have we shed everyday! Just like pets. :)

Or you can take your cat to the groomer's for a lion's cut if you don't want to deal with all that shedding.

LOL, yes all animals shed all the time every day. I mostly wear gray t-shirts when I am home, because it shows the white and black fur the least. My sister has just about every color of fur imaginable between her 4 dogs and 3 cats.

My husband hates all the fur. It really bothers him and I have no idea why. He thinks it is "dirty" or something. It's just fur.

My kitties seem to shed all the time, too. I'm always vacuuming up fur.

    Love the pictures, vene. :)

Yes, Gracie sheds ALL the time, but it is at it's worst right now. She went to work with me last week for a bath and it seemed to get most of teh loose hair off, I then came home and Zoom-Groomed her, the combination of that really helped. I still have to brush her everyday, but at least you can take your hand and rub it once between her neck and tail without getting a tuft of hair on the floor.

Between our two black cats and the warm weather, I have black fur here and black fur there and black fur everywhere.
