fresh water puffers ?

im interrested in those puffers people have been refering to in these boards. how many would i be able to keep in a 10g? and do they blow up like the ones you see in movies and on tv?

 

There's only a few species that are actually freshwater. How many you can keep in a 10 gallon will depend on the species. The most common freshwater puffer is the dwarf puffer. They get around 1" and you could fit about 5 or 6 in a 10 gallon. They do tend to be highly aggressive, though, so you'll need lots of plants (real or fake) as cover.

Green spotted and figure 8 puffers are also fairly common, but they are brackish (and green spotted puffers get too big for a 10 gallon).

And yes, they will puff up, HOWEVER it is extremely hard on them and they only do it when severely stressed. So hopefully, you'll never see one puffed up.

any idea on how i could breed them?
