Wondering what this might be? Male dog 3 1/2 years old. He has been taking prednisone for allergies. We went to a dog beach and that afternoon I noticed blood in his urine. The first part of his urine is clear, and then when he is just marking his territory with a squirt it is clearly full of blood. He took his first pill to prevent heart worms July 3. He is still pretty active and seems okay. Any advice on what this could be and what we should do? Thank you for any info..

My sisters dog had something similar and tests showed he had an infection through a tear in his sheath If you can try and get a pee sample and can get it along to your vet ask him/her to have it checked for any infections, he had urinary tract infection and would have got worse if she had not had him treated.

Blood in the urine should be check out even if you think it may pass as the longer its left any problems that are there now may get worse causing the use of more aggressive treatments.

Let us know what the vets says and how he gets on.

Agree with Mike, needs to be checked out with the vet.

    Zorro is doing fine, thanks!

Don't know if this will work, because I have never done this, but thanks for the info.. I appreciate the input, if only you could have prescribed the medicine.
