Please help with Mr. Conan

I have a toy male Yorkie Mr. Conan he is appraoching 2 yrs old in Nov. I was so futunate that he has been wee wee pad trained in 2 days and is an excellent dog, but with in the last week I have noticed he has started to pee around my house lifting his leg (never ever saw that before always squatted) Obviously I am concerned He has not been nuetered and is in excellent health. I take him for walks but NEVER does his business outside ALWAYS on the wee wee pads until this past week I would trully appriciate anyone that can help me here...... thank you all so much Louie

first of all I always want to rule out a urinary tract infection....that said taking his age into account and the fact that he is not neutered then the chances are he is just marking his territory, he has recently become an adult and the testosterone has well and truly kicked in. The problem with the pads is you use them indoors so Mr Conan has never learned that peeing indoors in general is not acceptable, I would start from scratch with the housetraining and then monitor him at all times while he is inside so you can catch him hopefully before he pees and get him outside quick, when he does go outside give him loads of praise.

Have you got him crate trained....most dogs wont pee where they sleep so as long as the crate is size appropriate then that should help.

 

Thats right.....and bear in mind, that is what a male dog does, mark his territory. Squatting was a baby thing, and now himself is a man.......went thru this with our stud, but just had the talk that he has 10 acres to mark, and may not do it in the house! The light will dawn, i promise.
