Very Fussy chi/terrier diet

    Hi there,
My chi/'terrier Danny has recently stopped eating anything except meat - as in raw meat, cooked , or bones. My other dog at least eats pet food so is getting a reasonably balanced diet.
My vet checked Danny out and suggested I read a book he lent me by an Aussie vet ( Billinghurst) which basically prescribes raw bones, raw veggies, eggs, offal and other things - Danny loves raw bones, but how to get him to eat the other things?
Should I just feed him supplements, and if so - what?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

feeding just raw bones is not a balanced diet. If your going to feed raw, you can try the BARF. It comes in a premade raw log. Has everything in it your dog should need.

I would try taking hamberger meat and putting come small pieces of heart liver or kidney in them along with some green beans or carrots.

What I would look into doing is feeding him organ meat, raw meet and bones...if you can get your hands on a grinder it'd be EASY to slip in a few veggies (not many needed if you're feeding organ meat). Grind it all up together and your pooch shouldn't be able to tell the difference. If you do decide to go all raw with her you'll probably do the same with the other because the results are astounding...no eye boogies, no bad breath, great poops that dissolve practically and great teeth too (provided you supply some whole bones to chew on)

I would also suggest you look at some Raw feeding websites out there...

Here's a good site giving a play by play on what a breeder feeds and her links are great too:

Thanks for your replies, Sam and Sara - yes, you're right, BARF is what I'm looking for. I haven't been able to find it yet in Melbourne Australia but will keep trying. I found one website but they only deliver in Qld.

Meanwhile Danny ate some Science Diet dry today, I'm not keen on commercial food, but I suppose this one is a reasonably good one as it's sure expensive. It's supposed to be balanced.

    I'll also look around for a mincer/grinder.

    Cheers,
    Kate
