Extremely worried - Will my cat be ok?

    Hi there,

My little black cat was hit last night by a car (so the vet tells me) and apart from visibly having problems walking with his back legs and deep in shock, after x-rays it has been confirmed that his tail has been seperated from his sacrum. He is in the vets as we speak and they want to keep him in for the weekend to monitor him.

The vet told me that he could have bladder problems but it depends how much damage he has had on his nerve endings! The x-ray revealed that he hadnt broken his legs and hip which was a relief but I have no idea how critical his condition is so am very anxious at the moment!

Does anybody else have a cat who has been through a similar trauma?

    Many thanks

can't offer you any words of hope never having a cat experience such trauma but I'll send out strong positive thoughts to him.
I hope he is going to be fine

I'm sorry about your kitty and hope that he will be okay. Please let us know.

One of the cats I used to have was hit by a car but it was on her face. She had a broken jaw and the ear on one side of her head was paralyzed.
She acted fine, though. The vet wired her jaw back together and told us it's amazing how animals can heal. We had her for 10 years after that (she was about 5 yrs when it happened).

I am so very sorry about your cat, I hope and pray he will be ok.
A friend's cat was hit by a car and survived with only minor problems.
    Please keep us posted.
