The extra mucas you are seeing is caused from the intestinal tract. She could have a clostridial over growth. Mucus is produced by anal glands and other glands in the digestive tract. This can also be produced by the body to help ird of internal parasites.

What do you feed her and how often. Lower quality foods are full of fat and oils that dogs don't need. these can be passed along in the digestive tract and cause loose stools as well.

I have been feeding her twice a day with the ol roy brand (walmart) of moist packets. We were feeding her the ol roy brand of the Kibbles and Bits style.
I guess this could be the problem. I'll try a better brand. Any suggestions, this is our first dog. We got her from a lady that got her from the pound 2 months ago, but she was having problems with her other dog taking to her. We didn't want to see her go back to the pound.
    Thanks for your help.

if it doesn't improve with the better diet you could add some fiber to her food. My dog has IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and she gets mucusy loose stools now and then. I am supposed to give her a food high in fiber but that is hard to find and she does well on her current food. It was suggested to me that rather than change her food (NutroMax) simply put the fiber in her food!!! I add GrapeNut cereal to her food.
And she has a Benefiber chewable tablet when I have mine. It's become our little "snack".
She's a 70 lbs. GSD so she can have a whole tablet.
It's helped her. But I'd wait first to see if a better quality food will help your dog before adding any fiber
