Does your cat have CFR - Kidney failure?

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to share with everyone caring for a loved one with CFR. My 15 year old tabby was diagnosed with this almost 1 year ago. I have been giving him the IV treatment at home 3x a week as well as the supplement Epakitin. His Bun and Creatinine numbers are better now than when he was diagnosed! I am convinced the supplement has so much to do with this. Please look into this if you are treating your little friend!

We knew something was wrong with our Kitt Kat last December when he started drinking excessive amounts of water and the litter box had much more urine than I had ever seen. A trip to the vets and blood test revealed he has CFR. After one month of IV fluids his BUN and Creatinine values continued to rise and the vet thought he wouldn't be around a few months from then. I added Epakitin supplement to his hills K/D prescription diet (wet food only-no dry for cats with CFR) and his values have dropped since then to the point of being better than when he was originally diagnosed. That is why I am promoting this supplement. I don't believe he would still be around if I did not add this to his diet. If I can save only one more kitty this post will be worth it! For those of you who are taking your cat to the vets for the IV treatment please have them show you how it’s done. I have been doing this at home and believe it is much less stress on our little friend. It’s very easy with a little practice! Tip- put kitty in a laundry basket while you are doing this! Any questions please ask!

back in the day when I had a CRF cat I wish my vet would have let me do fluids at home - but back then they wouldn't.
I do have all the fixing for giving fluids in case a foster should require it but luckily I haven't had to do it yet.
I will most definitely keep the laundry basket tip in mind though

 

Thanks for the info, I lost 2 cats to renal failure. it also works for dogs so I bookmarked the supplement because I have 2 senior dogs that may come in handy later.

Interesting, I looked up the ingredients and the main one is Chitosan. I rang a bell and the bingo, it was one of those informercials a few years ago for weight loss

 

My cat Patches has Kidney failure..... she got really sick and stopped eating/drinking and insulted her kidneys. but the vet put her on cosequin and her tests showed that the progression of the disease just stopped. And she has been fine since that was 4/5 years ago and she is 14 years old.

 

:m23: and welcome! Thanks for the important ifo. I lost my first cat to congenital renal failure. I've always wondered if changing his diet and giving him supplements would've helped him.
