Can anyone help with rehoming?

    Hi,

I posted on here a while back about a stray cat I was having problems with. Cutting a long story short I have managed to get him neutered, and have now given him worming and flea treatments. He's a lot calmer, and after a few months with me is ready to find his forever home. Sadly, he can't stay with us - I have never said no before to any cats that have found me but circumstances have changed this, I feel very guilty but have to do the right thing and find him someone perfect for him.

I have done the obvious and put a leaflet at my local vets, but is there anywhere else I can 'advertise' to find him a home? Online or offline? I want the best for him so I refuse to just make do. I realise it may take some time and am willing to keep him with us, however complicated that is, for a few more weeks/months if necessary.

    I'm in the Midlands, UK.

it's hard rehoming cats....just keep advertising him. Please please make sure you check references if you get any interest in him. Vets, friends, town (to make sure there haven't been any complaints on that person)

Well, there's a good chance he's going to be homed with a very good friend of mine. It just means me keeping him home with us until the end of January, which is possible. It also means I am assured that he'll be very well loved and we still get to see him all the time :)

Hopefully a very happy outcome for us all and it will be well worth all the effort and stress!

I did get lucky. Problem is, the longer he's here, the more I love him, the more my cats relax around him. I'm going to struggle like crazy to let him go and am already quietly panicking about moving him. Deep down I know I have to let him go but I could cry about it already, I am too soft.

that's the hard part Ginny to let him go after all that time!! I have such a soft heart so I would have a very hard time fostering or being a temp home.... kudo's to you on helping him get that forever home!!!

Well the update on Hugo moving to his new home is all positive. It's been almost 3 weeks (he moved out earlier than expected!) and he's just recently spent short bursts out in the garden but mainly prefers to be inside on a cosy bed or hanging around the kitchen for a little more food!

I have seen him almost daily since I moved him, and for the first few days spent a few hours in his new home with him which was invaluable and it helped us both cope although we did miss each other a lot! I cried heaps the day I left him even though it was the right thing to do.

A happy ending for a lovely boy. His life was terrible before, he was starving, had fleas and we could not get near him for months. Now he's a very healthy weight and his fur looks fantastic and he loves (when it suits him) a good fuss. I'm very proud of myself and am so glad I have helped another cat. He's a very loved little man.

I haven't been here for a while. Did you get your Kitty into a new home?

Yes I did find him a home, and he's doing great so far. He's not far away and I get to see him lots. I have another stray if you have space for a long haired hungry little chap?

    little one needing a home

    Hi,

Sorry, I have four at home, all rescue cats. I feed 5 more outside that belong to my neighbors, or just cats that stop by for a few minutes of lap time in the back yard.

Plus shipment to the USA might be a problem..Hahaha.

Sure glad you found a good home and one that is close is a plus. I don't know what I'd do if I had to give away my cats.

...... the little guy is well fed now. He pops by a few times a day to eat and I have had a flap fitted in my shed so that he can use that as his 'home'.

    No shipping needed ...
