PLEASE HELP~!

Hi all. I am new to this page. However I use a site similar to this one for my Tibetan Spaniel.
I need help with my kitten. She is approx 7 weeks old. She isn't having regular bowel movements. She has feces oozing from her bottom. It is greyish in color. No blood. Her belly is somewhat swollen and we can feel hard feces in her tummy. PLEASE, what do I give her to get this out and back to normal? I have already taken her back to a kitten formula milk. I am boiling some chicken to give little bits to her. One vet advised an enema. Which I did. But the hard stuff seems to still be in there. What else can I do? vet...could be worms and a bad case. With a kitten that age I'd be running to the vet

 

Definatly take it in. Sounds like it could be a bad case of worms. Kittens need to be wormed regularly. Most are born with worms. This can be deadly if the infestation is bad enough.

Please take him to your vet and have him checked out.

 

i dont know that it is wise to assume it is feces inside. it could be some other obstruction. maybe xrays would be in order to really get a better idea if it is an obstruction. i would be surprised that a vet would suggest an enema without taking xrays, but of course i am NOT a vet so i imagine he had some rationale. my vets seem to always want to take xrays first. even with my older cat that just died. just to rule out some other more serious condition or obstruction. my older cat did get an enema once and that seemed to help him. he stopped eating for about 5 days. the vet also gave him an antibiotic shot. just a thought....

good luck with your little kitty. i know the feeling. max has had diarrhea since i got him at eight weeks of age. but his was a parasite, and a bacterial problem.

Hi. I am not sure if I did this or not but I am writing to let you all know that Callie Cat had to be put down. :cry: The enema in question was a small suppository. I took her to the pound and they were so kind that they were going to see if they could worm her and get her better. They did a test on the oozing substance and found that it was toxic due to her intestines being ruptured from the severe impaction of feces. I miss her dearly but fully understand that she couldn't live that way. She was happy in spite of it all. Reminding me once again that no matter how hard I have it, living with Fibromyalgia and sever back pain, there are many others who have it worse. I wouldn't wish any animal to have what Callie had but I sure wish that we as humans could brave things the way she did. She and I bonded from the get go. To know now that by the time I got her she was already dying and yet she held on for 4 more weeks? It's astounding in such a small miraculous creature as a kitten.
Once again, I beg anyone who reads these posts, please, please, please spay or neuter your animal. Callie didn't ask to be born. She was born out of ignorance. She was one of millions of animals the world just throws away. I thank God she came into my life and I into hers. At least she had a home, food and love instead of the alternative of living on the street.
I thank you all for your advice and help. It will not be forgotten. I have become informed for any kitten I might acquire in the future.

that is so, so sad. goodness...my heart just aches when i hear of a little animal suffering. :cry: they are so valiant sometimes. so brave and loving. i am very sorry for your loss. she was lucky to have such a loving "meowmy". (i just heard of that word the other day in this forum).
