my dad baught me 2 sailfin mollies yesterday.

    male and female.

this morning i had 20+ molly fry.

    theyre really pretty. tabby coloured.

iv put them i the breeder with my guppy fry.

they were born i a community tank. i have 3 molly fry floating and swiming in the tank, not the breeder and everyone ignores them, do you think they wonyt be eaten. i have the 2 sailfins in there and two other mollies, one marble, one black, male and female, they dont seem to interested either.

the breeder is getting a bit cramped, and a few guppy fry are dying, is this coz of the rampt conditions?

will the lack of space stunt their growth, or slow it down,

im hoping i could just put the molly fry in with the community fish where they came from, coz its v.well planted with gradient levels of plant and bushyjava fern.

    please help

    thank you.

    amy.

I would get the babies larger quarters. I am fixing to put my molly fry (I think I have 60-70) in a 35 gal this week. I need for them to get to growing and I know they are cramped in the 10 gallon, as they are growing bigger. All I'm waiting for is my penguin bio-wheel and heater that I ordered for petsmart. It should be her today or tomorrow.

unfortunatly i dont have enough room for another tank.

8i have 3 in my room, and i do have others in the shed, but again, i have no where to put them.

i looked today, and i still have all 3 fry in the aquarium. no one has eaten them yet.

Do you have any of that duckweed plant that floats? That's good for the fry to hide in and if I'm not mistaken they can munch on it too. Then you could let more of them out and the strong ones would make it. There is however a down side to it. The stuff gets all over the tank and the filter intake (maybe the stuff I had wasn't so healthy). It's great shelter though, worth trying! :)

no, i dont have any duck weed.

i havea big big of java fern, (well, big for the tank) lots of tal and narrow plants, and smal and wide plants, a little pot, and they blend in to the gravel.

the three i left in the tank are still there, going strong.

if i use a pump sucker to hoover the gravel, they wont get sucked up, will they?

Well it sounds like they have lots of plants to hide in so they should be O.K. As far as the vacuuming, I am the paranoid one who won't do it if I have fry in the aquarium but I don't have 20/20 vision either. If you are confident that you can see what you are "hoovering up" then you should be fine. I just wouldn't do it right beside them or anything thike that though. Oh yeah, just something funny, after I vacuum my 65g I always do a head count of all fish under 2" just so I know if I accidentally got one! They are always there but I worry every time! I had a bumblebee goby swim right up the tube once! I guess he was curious! Thank goodness he was strong enough to swim out again!!! L.O.L.
