I heard from some of my friends that Melafix is good for treating torned fins, flesh and illnesses, etc.. Is that true? Is it recommendable?

I love Melafix. Its antibacterial & antifungal properties are a bit disputed (it proabaly has some, but not enough to cure a full-blown infection on its own) but it is wonderful for healing cuts, scrapes, & torn fins.

And a little money-saving tip: Buy the pond Melafix. It's the same stuff, just more concentrated and costs a lot less.

I just happened to be browsing through the medication section at the local pond store. A 16oz bottle of the regular Melafix costs about $13. A 16oz bottle of the pond Melafix (5x more concentrated so treats 5x as much) also costs about $13.

but with the medication being more concentrated wont there also be a effect of the aquerium and fish more then needed?
