    Hi

Just after some advice. We're moving in a couple of months. The new house is about a 3 hour drive away. Just wondered if anyone had any advice to make eviecats Journey as stress free as possible.

    Many Thanks

3 hours isn't too bad. Get a large carrier that you can fit a litterbox into and stop now and then for a water break. should do fine.

One of my fosters is going from NH to NY next weekend about 4-5 hours and siamese rescue insists on a large carrier that can hold a litterbox and they do transports all over the east coast.

That's a very short drive. Your cat should be fine. We moved from CT to Western NY and our kitties did well with many pit stops. We made sure they had a kitty litter and fresh water available at all times.

That is nothing I moved from Virginia to Germany, My friends brought my cat over for me (and I brought my dog)but here is what a day is like for us: The airline told us we cannot reserve a spot on the plane for animals and they only allow 2 animals per flight and maybe we our the first in our city, but we have a connecting flight and have to "beat" anyone who would have a pet coming into the 2nd flight, (the other person may have had another leg somewhere and we both leave from Philadelphia), and it is on a first come first serve basis. Our flight left our airport at 5, but since it was an international flight we had to be there 2 hours early so take that back to 3, an we had an hour drive beforehand so back to 2, but we wanted to make sure our babies would be allowed to fly with us so we left around 10 or 11. So with my dog we were allowed to check him in and walk him around until time for our flight, but with the cat the couldn'T allow this. Then we went to Philadelphia which is maybe a 2 hour flight, but while in Philadaelphia, my friend had to walk thru the metal detectors holding my cat, hoping she wouldn'T run away! but the poor thing was too scared so she gripped tight onto my friend for comfort. My cat got to ride in the cabin with my friends and they were allowed to let her out (I think they had exceptionally nice flight attendants though) she drank water from a sponge while inside her cage she never peed whle in there. But this was a 7 hour flight maybe? and then an hour ride home. So 3 hours is nothing! Not something you shoud do everyday, but can be done without to much stress!

    Thanks for your reply guys.

Well for you people in America 3 hours maybe nothing, But to eviecat a 20 minute journey to the vets is hell. With screeching panicing and cat poo everywhere.

    Not looking forward to it

My cat ususally acts like that going to the vet but after awhile she calms down. Maybe she thinks oh now it has been too long we aren'T going to the vet whew! But they are tranquilizers or something for cats I would never use them though, I have heard bad stuff. And I think they reccommend using that stuff only for trips longer than 9 hours so I don'T think they would give it to you for such a short trip. And they never suggest it for plane rides because it messes up teir heart rate and breathing. Maybe you could also start with small trips around the block.
    Ps where are you?

I moved from MA to NC a 15 hr drive...my kitty was crying like crazy at first..then just settled in the back of her carrier..i tried to make her drink and use the litter box several times at rest stops..but she wouldnt...she was no worse for the ware when we finally arrived at our new home..
