bitting bunny!!!

hey everyone!!! i just got a bunny that used to be in a second grade class room where the kids were really mean to it and than given to some owners that put it in a bird cage where it almost died from a heat stroke. well, now this furry little girl bites!!! is she ruined for the rest of her life or can i teach her that she can trust me? what can i do to teach her that she can trust us???

 

slowly get her to know you by feeding her treats and or giving her things, let her get used to you. if you rush things she will become scared of you all over again so be patient.

 

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!!! she is fine as long as she is out of her cage but she seems to tempermental!!! sometimes when i reach in the cage to pet her she growls( ive never heard of a rabbit growling or bitting)and turnes around real fast to try to bite me and other times she is as calm as ever!! how do i know when she is actully enjoying the love i give her or if she is irratated by it and what kind of treats do i give her!!?? i really know nothing about bunnys!! any advice on bunny sites will be very helpful!!! i noticed that you have alot of fish!!! we have 2, 70 gallon tanks one has a 4 year old oscar in it that is HUGE!!!!! and the other tank has tetras, gromies, a ralph, and some other ones that im not sure what they are!!! we have lots too!!!! maby you can give me some advice on my fish too!! like one of my gromies head turned black!!! they are blue with two black spots on theam!!! why is its head black, when it usually is not!!!??

 

think about getting her spayed. It does make a big difference. Good bunny sites are

there are lots more, but those are the ones I use the most for general information.

 

the reason she is growling may be that she is in heat or possibly even pregnant. (highly doubtful) get her spayed and if you cant then be patient. sunflower seeds, cob(horse grain), veggies, papaya pills (for fur balls) are all good foods to feed her, but only as a treat.

 

Actually, my female bunny has been spayed, yet she still growls when "digging." i would also suggest getting her spayed though, they usually get SO much nicer!

Yeah I agree with OneWolfsDream try to get her used to you and don't do anything to scar or shock her because that might trigger her past bad experience but I have to congradulate you for taking to initiative to go and help that rabbit!
