Off the subject of cats but I thought I would share this....

Fleafly...I just read your reply on another post and you mentioned your computer may have a virus.

I recently got a new HP printer and was having trouble installing it. When I called the help line they went through a ton of troubleshooting with me. At one point he had me read off a bunch of programs that were running on my computer. When I got to one of them the guy said "STOP...that's a virus"......I couldn't believe it! I run Norton Anti Virus all the time but this one snuck in under the radar. He explained that alot of viruses know there way around the "installed" anti virus programs and told me to go to

    http://www.housecall.antivirus.com

Wouldn't ya know...this site found the virus and eliminated it! Yahooo!
Since it's a web site and not an installed program on your computer it's more likely to find viruses.

I am no computer expert by any means so when I learn stuff like this I like to share.

Thanks Winnie, I will give that site a try. I have some virus that is masquerading as a normal program or something. I have run almost every virus and spyware program known to man and they can't get rid of it. I even deleted every program on my computer that I didn't recognize. It keeps changing my start up page to some about:blank site, and freezes my internet and I have to unplug everything and re-start for it to work again. For some reason this site is the one it has the most problems with. If that site doesn't work my brother is mailing me the stuff I need to reformat my computer. I had to do that once before to get rid of a virus.

My avatar suddenly changed into the "dreaded red x"?!? I'm not sure if it was my computer or not. And speaking of....I noticed that Vene's and Mary_NH's avatar is also a red x for the past few days. Is it my computer or do you all see the same?

My friend had a problem like this. It was a rogue program that had downloaded itself piggyback on an MP3. I'm afraid the only way we got rid of it was to reformat. It had buried itself so deep in the registry and copied itself to so many places that it was impossible to get rid of. You have my sympathy and I hope you get it sorted out soon!

Only some computers see the red x. I once tried by mistake to place a website under my name. LOL's. Now if only Aupet will host my Avatar without having to pay by Paypal. As for the computer virus. I got bugged big time going on Morpheus music downloads. $166 later, I neglected to save up my years of pics and music files on discs. So rather than reformating right away, I had the PC specialists extract my files. Took them a whole week to do it. Boy was I stressed using our slower computer. LOL's. Anyone know of a good program for pop-up blockers? Is it true that Norton anti-virus isn't all that reliable? I was thinking of purchasing it after the trial membership is up. Good luck to all who's having problems with their computers!
