i dont know what to do now

Im new to this forum so please bear with me, my cat (daisy) became had a kitten at 7months old. (me been dumb didnt think she would mate with her brother). When she gave birth only one kitten was born,she had to have an emergency cesarian but the others were dead.Since then she has gone down hill.She lost a lot of weight and wasnt eating much, the vet believed it was cat aids but all the tests came back negative inc diabetes. she has been to the vets 5 times now and has had injections which i believe were nutriants and she is usally ok for a week,but now she has lost even more weight and we still dont know what is wrong with her.

 

Hi. I'm so sorry about Daisy. Do you think it's possible for her to be depressed about losing her babies? Is the kitten living with her? After utilizing all medical possibilities and vets, would you consider using a pet communicator? This is the first time I'm recommending one here. There was a recent post here. yes the one kitten is living with us but since he stopped feeding from her they dont really spend much time together

 

How old is Daisy's son?

 

all she has eaten today is 3 teaspoons of human milk,will this improve her or is it not enough?

I don't think human milk is good for cats. Most cats cannot digest them. What types of food are they on? What did the vet recommend?

 

the other 2 cats are fine,the vets didnt suggest any kind of diet, she has been eating pouches. Today I have tried her with meat balls (i blended them) Human milk and baby milk, i just this minute put some pouches in a bowl for her,she came to bowl but just laid next to it.I have noticed that she seems to just lick her food and sometimes she tries to eat her litter tray gravel

There are lots of premium foods on the market. Will Daisy not eat any of them? Did the vet recommend force feeding her? She can have liver damage if she doesn't eat properly.

also she is ferral and is the runt of the litter i think,i know she is really bad because she normally sits on my pc desk with me but not tonight,she has gone under the wardrobe in a dark room,do you think she has gone there to die?

 

I hope not. Does she have fever or cold. Can you call a vet for advice?

 

she has just come form under the wardrobe and has drank 5 big teaspoons of milk,strange but she likes it,i guess its better than nothing isnt it?

Cats of all ages occasionally eat their litter. According to Dr. Barbara Stein, director of the Cat Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, “Cats and kittens often ingest litter when they are anemic,” The behavior is an example of pica--a craving for a non-food substance. If you see your kitten or cat eating litter, take the animal to your veterinarian for a checkup.

Daisy may be anemic if she's not eating her regular food and is eating cat litter. Try a different vet if you don't like your current vet. If she hasn't eaten in 2 days, she's in serious trouble and needs to see a vet. Milk will give her diarrhea. She needs a balance of nutrients to thrive. Talk with a vet please. We can only guess what her problem might be. Only a vet can truly diagnose her problems.

 

stop with the human milk cause this could cause excessive "dire-rear" and that's something this kitty doesn't need right now.

A good blend to feed this cat, at this time, is AD cat food (from your vet) mixed with Pedialyte, NutraCal and some Lysine-a if you can get that.

There is another product you can get that will help get the good bacteria moving and it's called BeneBac...you can buy it at any pet store. But an alternative for this is plain yogurt as the cultures in there are beneficial for kitty tummies.

I would have the feline aids/luek testing done again...they are not 100% reliable. The way you describe what you cat is doing sounds scary to me...but I would highly suggest having the second set of tests done - on both the mother and the surviving kitten.

If at all possible can you get a plastic feeding syringe? If this cat won't eat it won't take long for her to develop fatty liver disease - so it's important to start getting food into her. The recipe I gave you above is good to syringe feed cause you make it soupy. Be careful though you don't get too much up her nose as you don't want her aspirate on the food.

Was she spayed when the C-section was done (not sure if they automatically spay). If not does she have any discharge?

But really I'd highly suggest a 2nd set of bloodwork done on her.

I was at a humane society event today so just got home.

what kind of litter do you use? Is it the clumping kind? Your line of her trying to eat the kitty litter also makes me wonder if she might have some sort of blockage going on...clumping litter can cause a nasty blockage if it builds up inside the cat/kitten.

 

Your vet didnt suggest any type of diet? umm...definatley get off the cows milk, its too fattening and isnt good for the kitty,

 

NO...I WOULD NOT GIVE HER MILK. better to give her kitten formula than milk if you have to give her something like that.

have you tried a little tuna? or tuna oil on her tongue to stimulate her appetite. does she have a blockage?...could she have eaten something that got stuck in her intestine. it could be the litter...

i would try plain cooked chicken...no seasonings. she might be sick from all this food you are giving her. meatballs and milk are not good. you want bland foods that dont upset her stomach. milk will upset it.

take a dropper and feed her through the dropper if she wont eat. try a premium brand kitten food or cat food mixed with a little tuna oil.
