Plz help piranhas with white eyes

hi we have 10 red belly piranhas in 1 tank. we lost 1 last night due to the fact it was blind in both eyes. its eyes were covered with a white catarax. and it seems that another 1 has it today. can any1 help? as i dont want to loose any more

 

What size is the tank? What are your readings for ammonia, nitrIte, and nitrAte?

the tank is a juwel 400 we checked the nitrite and the nitrate levels last night but they were both 0 ppm but i need an ammonia test kit, but are they not all relevent to each other???? In the back of my mind i think that it could be mother nature being a son of a b+++h and tellin us there are to many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think your nitrAte result is correct. It is nearly impossible to have 0 nitrAtes. If you're using a liquid test, make sure you shake the heck out of the bottles before using them. Otherwise you'll get a false 0.

Piranhas aren't one of my specialties, but I think 10 piranhas in a 400 liter (105 gallon) tank is too many. I believe they need closer to 100 liters (approx 25 gallons) each so at most, your tank is only big enough for 4.

Is the white fuzzy or is it just a haze? Are the eyes protruding?

Thanks for that we seem to have it under control now, one of them still has a whiteish membrain on one eye, but he is lookong better with the treatment. How big of a piranha needs 100 litres?, ours are about 4 too 6 inches in body length.
