My small Siamese kitten is in distress with a swollen stomach. She doesn't seem to be in pain, but won't drink or eat, just lying around. If this is constipation, can I give her castor oil?

i'm sorry to hear about your kitten... i think u should take her to a vet soon as possible to get a professional diagnosis.. it could be something bad :?

Kitten's always seem to have swollen bellies, but she's (he?) not eating or drinking. I would definatly say to get it to the vet.

I would'nt give her any home remedies without seeking the advice from a vet first. I might be wrong but I thought castor oil was toxic to cats and dogs.

vet...could be a terrible case of worms and a young kitten can go downhill quickly if the worms get too overwhelming. Don't take chances with a kitten. Did you get this kitten from a breeder? If so I'd be sure and rip the breeder a new one if the kitten has anything wrong (even worms cause a GOOD breeder would be sure and deworm a kitten before sending it home). Even a good rescue group would automatically deworm kittens and/or cats - I foster for Siamese Rescue and rule #1 is to give them a good quality deworming medication (and please please please do not buy any deworming over the counter crap....get stuff from your vet).

Don't wait too long - this kitten needs nourishment.

:m23: and welcome! Please send your kitty to the vet ASAP! It sounds serious if she's not eating or drinking. Here's a list of signs of illness that requires a vet visit:

Please keep us posted of her conditon and we love to see her pics when she is all better. What's her name and how old is she?

 Thank you very much for your caring about our Siamese kitten. She was still purring, responding and seemed to be in no pain when taken to the Vet. The Vet pressed on her kidneys and she passed away immediately. Whether this was from eating some poisonous plant or a birth defect, we don't know.

that is horrible...did you call the breeder? Did the vet have any idea what was wrong? If genetically related you should be able to get your money back....and if genetic the breeder should know
