    hello there,

Heres hopefully some information about guppies you may need.........

When your mum is about to drop, you will se that one side of her rear is almost at a point. You will see this if you look at her from behind, but dont let her see you doing this as she may get embarressed.
If you see one side pointed/droopy, place her in a breeding net as she will drop very soon.

This doesnt always occur though (the point at the back) and she may not let you look.
Other signs of her being close to drop are:
    * She may hide in plants or behind things coz she is trying to find a place to have her babies that is safe and quiet, so to speak.
*she may race up and down the side of the tank
*she will show signs of having problems swimming (she'l look like she is trying to swim drugged up on something (oxygen i guess)
*She will refuse food. Watch carefully though coz it may look like she takes food, but then spits it out.

All these signs maybe be present, but then to contradict my self, none may be present. They are more likely to show if she is having a big batch of babies.
The older the Guppy, the more babies are produced, so if shes loaded with fry, she will have problems swimming.

My mum gave birth to 4 over a few days. She is very young. She showed no signs, and i dont even know which mum it was coz all 5 mums are pregnant.

If you are worried that you wont catch her in time for the drop, make sure the aquarium is heavily planted so the fry can hide untill you can net them in to a breeder.

I aslo did this. I just netted the babies in to a breeding trap and they live there untill they are big enough.

The above option is easier (for the mum) to do than putting the mum in a bredder if your not sure she is ready to drop because she will get stressed if she is in there longer than one day and the stres may cause her to abort the pregnancy.

    hope this is helpful.

PM if you have any more questions.
Im a Guppy obsesive so i know my Guppy!
    Take care.

    3_second_memory GREAT ADVICE.

My mom showed all these signs so I new the second time she was ready. Now we are going on the third time (she is starting to show a belly again). THIS IS SO MUCH FUN TO SEE THE PREGANCY AND BIRTH AND THEN THE FRY AS THEY GROW.

    THANK YOU.

Id like to think im a guppy midwife.

My mum has popped out 8 babies! she did it yesterday durring the whole day. i still dont know who the mum is becasue there all fat, and mnone display the symptoms that a guppy who is about to drop does. its really odd. i have 5 mums, so i cant put them all in the bredding net. i just have to fish out the fry, and thats always good for a laugh..

although, i got a fry in the net yesterday, and a mum ogt in the net too, and ate the fry!
    I was quite upset!

    xx

    onewolfsdream,

a tank devider will be just as affective as a second tank, maybe even safer than starting up a new tank and have new tank syndrome.

Ill go look at you pregnant fish in a minute.
