I get the Monos on Tuesday 09/28/04 and i was wondering how to acclamate them to my tank my salinity is 1.008 and they need about 1.012. Should i slowly raise the salinity of my tank over the next couple of days or should i wait until they get here to see what salinity they are in? All i have are a few 5 gal buckets to kept the fish in until they are ready to be added.

Find out what salintity they're in first. Then if you want to raise it you can do it very slowly.

should i let the fish sit in a bucket with half of my water and half of their's for an hour and then add them?

If their not in the tank then just add salt until you reach the desired salintiy and make sure its well mixed. As long as their not actually in the tank it should be fine. I keep my clownfish tank at about 1.022 - 1.025

I've heard of people setting up a drip system for their brackish and salty tanks. They put the fish in a bucket with their original water and then use airline tubing and pump drops of their tank water into the bucket over a period of hours. This way the fish get used to your own salinity levels if they are different from the bag water.

I have some tubing from my siphon. How would I set up a drip system?
