Has anyone used Feliway (or Comfort Zone?)

My one cat (who used to be the youngest) is pretty stressed out that we got a kitten. She has come into the room with us (and I have treated her like a Goddess when she has) but after a minute or two, she'll look at the kitten, hunch down, put the ears back, hiss, and leave.

I'm wondering if anyone has had success with Feliway? I've read that it can be used to calm cats adjusting to new cat family members. I may go out and buy a plug in or two. But, I wanted to know, does it really work? I understand the concept, but it's still hard to believe that it will make my stressed cat calm down.

How long have you had the new kitten? I'd suggest just giving them time to get used to one another before I spent money on products I don't know about.

I recently introduced a new kitty into my home a few months ago and Aoisha (the old one) is fine with it, but Molly (the new one) will still hiss at him sometimes and other times let him give her a bath. It all depends on her mood, but they seem to be getting together fine enough.

She's only been with us since Saturday. I just wanted to reduce stress around the house so I thought I may try this product. In the past I have heard people rave about it.

But, I really should give it some time. It has only been a couple days.

I've tried Feliway on my sofa that I'm trying to get footsie to stop scratching. Footsie just spends some time sniffing the couch and then goes back to normal, but I think I maybe don't use enough. The bottle says to spray furniture every day, but its so expensive that I only do it every once in a while. I think it doesn't work for me because Footsie is scratching as an attention getter, not to mark or to stretch.

I haven't noticed any calming effects, again, maybe I just don't use enough. Maybe I'll try that instead of the rescue remedy to get him into his carrier next week, since I already have it on hand.

Hi Lucidity03. I have a few friends that use Feliway with ComfortZone plug-ins and they think it's such a great product. It really does help mellow their cats out. The regular Feliway spray is not the same as the plug-ins. I would definitely recommend getting them and placing them in the rooms they are most often in.

it didnt help pepe. but then again his behaviour is just him, not stress related.

Thanks guys. I bought a plug in last night. I don't know if it's just my imagination (or hopeful thinking)... but... the hesitant cat (Zoe) hung out in the room with us more last night. She was still a little nervous, but she actually dozed off in the room with the kitten. (Was it a coincidence that she sat right by the plug in? I don't know).

Either way, things went well last night and I may have to chalk some of it up to the Comfort Zone. I just hope things become good enough that I don' t have to lock up the poor kitten when we're asleep or not home.

 The plug-in sounds like a good thing to have around the house.

A friend of mine used Feliway to calm her cat after she had smelt a male cat hanging around the front door. She was going mental but this product seemed to work. I've heard loads of good reports about it. The cat magazine that I subscribe to regularly recommends it. Her cat would also go mad whenever she saw something black coloured, socks..whatever. It was weird!
