I have an EXTREMELY high strung cat. I believe she is part Siamese which I may explain why she is so active. I love her beyond anything but she's very active and demanding so I had thought perhaps getting another cat for her to play with would be a good idea. I realize that I'd need a very active cat to keep up with Helmut, however; Helmut is strictly an indoor cat and I live in a rather small apartment so I'm concerned about space. How much space does a cat need? Is a small 1 bedroom apartment space enough for 2 cats? Or will then end up tripping over each other and fighting??

:m23: and welcome! How old is Helmut and do you have any pics to share? Psst. Adopt a Bengal. They can keep up with people, kids, cats, you name it. I used to live in a 1 bedroom apartment with 2 cats and they did just fine. The hardest part would be the introductions to the new cat and vice versa and seeing if Helmut will accept the newbie. I'm sure they'll be lots of advice pouring in. Lots of us has been in your situation before.

Helmut is just over a year old people keep telling me that she'll calm down but I don't know about that ... she's pretty active! She came from the Humane society and if I do get another cat I’d like to get another one from there ... I just like the idea of getting a cat that has been fixed had it's shots and this way I know it's one less that will get put down

She's grown alot since there were taken they're terrible quality but you get the idea :D

What a cutie. Her legs are so close to the camera in the first picture that it appears that she has huge feet...so adorable.
I think 2 cats would probably be fine in a 1 bedroom apartment. Has Helmut ever been around any other cats?

pppftt space... 1 bedroom is fine. thats all i have- and i have 2 kitties.

Lex is moderately active but since Razberry he's been jumping off the walls during play time.

I have 4 kitties and it is my opinion that cats are extremely active in the first 3 years of their lives.

you can find bengals in rescues sometimes...vene, lucidity, and i have bengals. they are great kitties...active, love other animals, hilarious.

your kitty reminds me of wtpoohs kytten...the little paws. is your kitty black??

She is a beauty!! She does remind me of my kitty  The white on the paws and chest is just like Kyttyn. That picture in the chair is too cute!

So now we will just be waiting for your next post where you show us pictures of you new addition and we will give you all our stories and advise about introducing a new cat.

I live in a one bedroom as well and have a 5 yr old female and 2 6 month old kittens...there is plenty of space..Jazz didnt like the babies at first but now she realizes they are sticking around..and she mainly just swats at em..and growls...no harm to the babies.

if you do get anouther cat make sure that the new cat will get allong with Helmut. i got a new cat four years ago and she will not leave poor buster alone, she keeps attacking him.

don't blame the siamese part of her for her hyperactivity - it's her age. I've had some of the most laid back cats be siamese.

When you do get her a bud (and notice the word when cause I agree you should save another) get a male around her age. Check out Tally's Basic Cat Care site - great info there on integrating

Thanks everyone for your advice :)

I'll keep it all in mind I'm still at the thinking about it stage right now ... I'm heading home to visit the family for a week and a friend is kitty sitting so I'm not doing anything until after I get back. But when I do find Helmut a friend I'll probably be right back here asking for more advice
