my new maltipoo and my Rat Terrier

hello, i was just wondering if anyone else has issues w/ dominance and how to solve it. I have had my Rat Terrier for over a year and my new malitpoo keeps trying to "hump" her. Lucy (the rat terrier) is spayed so, he cant do much damage but it really annoys lucy and she snaps. other than that, they play well together chasing eachother through the house, up and down the stairs and everything (like a little stampede). I really want to teach the maltipoo (sugar) not to do this. We are trying to give each dog the same attention and not making differences.

Is your Maltipoo neutered? And I know it's supposed to make a difference, but does anyone know if it really does? On a side note, my friend has a Pekepoo FEMALE who is 7 years old, spayed, and does that (isn't that strange?). OK -- since she's an only child it's with her favorite house slipper, but I still think that's so odd!

Anyway, I wondered if neutering really does make a difference with most males and that behavior.

By the way -- I'm new and getting a new Shih Poo a week from today (Boo! is her name). White with a black mask. :D I'll post photos as soon as I get her. I've already been PM'ing MyBaby who has the best advice!! Thanks!

From what I hear neutering before the males start in with the marking of territory does help. Some dogs will still try to be dominate and do the humping bit even after. But since a dogs life span is much shorter than a humans, they can get testicle cancer if not neutered. Maybe not soon but neutering helps to give the dog a better chance at surviving life longer. Same goes for the females, only they can get uterine cancer or pyometeria.
