I have a Shih Poo (not a Maltipoo), but I think most Poo mixes are good with kids. The Maltipoo owners will probably have a lot of input on this. But I have a 4 & 6 year old, and it was a toss-up for me as to whether I got a Shih or Malti mix. I've read (on this forum) that the Malti's are a little more active than the Shih's but I think all are pretty sweet.

Good luck on your doggy search!! :D

Most Malti-poos that I've met seem to be good with children, but a lot of that can be attributed to their socialization/upbringing!!!

I often hear the statement you mentioned that malti-poos are best with "older, more calm/considerate children." I would say that's probably true given the breed combo, but I am convinced that MUCH of it has to do with how well the pup is socialized with kids!!! :y_the_best:

Being a maltipoo owner of 3 with 2 girls, ages 8 & 15 (THEY WERE 5 AND 12 WHEN I GOT GRACIE) I can honestly tell you that these babies love everyone!!!! They love little kids too! I take mine to work with me everyday and whenever the kids come in, the dogs go crazy cause they love to give kisses. They are one of the most gentle, loving pups you can find. But then again, alot of the poo crosses I have met are that way too.

Our maltipoo is great with all kids -- our kids are 13, 10 and 6. Plus I have nieces and nephews ranging from 3-24 and there are MANY children on our street. Laci, our malitpoo, does wonderful with all of them. She's a huge hit when anyone comes to visit. My nieces and nephews used to love to come see "Aunt Robin" -- now that's been replaced with coming to see Laci. :? She loves the attention and someone different to play with. I think it does have a lot to do with socialization. Laci's breeder kept her inside and with her and her family all of the time. I could immediately tell that Laci had been given lots of attention because she adjusted so well to us and is so affectionate and loving. My sister has a pekapoo and he is also very great with kids -- just a bigger version (he weighs about 20 pounds and Laci is 6 pounds.)

I have a maltipoo and he is 6 months old and I take him to work with me everyday. I work in a childcare program (Kindergarten thru 6th grade) He does wonderful with all the children. I do however limit the amount of time and touching a kinder can do with my little Jasper, they are not to gentle with him. He has been very good regardless though. But from experience they are great with children. Oh and I also have an 11 year old son. And Jasper adores him soo much.
