so i got a small tank.....my cousin gave it to me and i think its a 10, although he said 20.....so lets go with 10.....

I bought a tiger oscar for this tank, and thanks to this site he was only in there for 2 weeks while my new 125 gallon tank cycled.....he is doing well thanks for asking

ne way i was wondering what you all would suggest for a tank this small.....anything cool i could get......even if its just one cool fish......i dont want anything boring like a goldfish of a guppy!

I think 10g is a little bit too small for most Africans (African rift lake cichlids, which usually get to be 6-8 inches). They won't have enough room to swim. Your best bet would be something that remains pretty small, like rams. You could probably get a pair of rams in a 10g, but your best bet is to do exactly what you already did and ask Chelle.

Like Gravity said, a 10 gallon really is too small for most African rift lake cichlids. However, you could probably fit about 4 shell dwellers in it (they're not very common, so good luck finding some). Or a pair of rams.

There's also smaller tetras like neons, cardinals, glowlights, etc that could fit in a 10 gallon. Or a pair of dwarf gouramis. Cory cats and otos make good clean up crews. A male betta, or possibly a few female bettas would work (of course not more than one male, and don't mix a male with females).

If you want sommething unusual, you could also keep african dwarf frogs. Or dwarf puffers would also work, but you couldn't put anything else with them because they're aggressive.

In general, I would avoid any fish that gets larger than 3" or larger than 2" and prefers groups. Your best bet would be to look around at what's available at your LFS's. Write down the names of the ones that you might be intrested in and post that list here. Then we can help you come up with a list of fish that are compatible and will fit in your tank.

    well......

ok so i took dims just so you guys could confirm that i am correct in thinking this is a 10 Gallon tank

    W: 20"
    H: 12"
    D: 11"

now i was wondering if anyone has bought fish from here:

    http://www.aquariumfish.net/

They seem to have a TON of neat fish, but i am not sure about this whole process.....shipping is a ton, but if i get another large tank and make it a community rather than getting an oscar who eats everything, shipping is a flat rate no matter the order so its not big deal........

I guess let me know about these things and thanks again for all your help everyone!!! i will let you know what i do.....I am hoping to get some pics up soon of my tanks once i get this little one going!
