Help! My cat is aborting - right now!

Hi again everyone! One of my cats that I have not been able to get fixed yet is aborting a litter! I did not even know she was pregnant. She has been bleeding a little this evening and I thought she was in heat. When I came to sign onto my PC there was an aborted baby right on my computer desk by keyboard!!!!! There was another on my bed.

She seems otherwise healthy - just has meowing spurts. Do I need to take her to a vet????

Why would she have one on my desk of all places?

Is there anything else I should know????

I'm in a panic. Thanks everyone!

EDIT: I just vaccinated her about 2 weeks ago and also treated her for fleas with ADAMS about a week ago. Could this have caused the miscarriage?

never heard of ADAMS flea control products...but by all means this cat needs to see a vet now - her uterus could be infected also.

There must be a physical reason why she aborted. Also how old is she? She may have been much too young to even have carried a litter. A good reason to not let a young female outside unless spayed.

I would suggest a vet pronto and while there have her spayed. Could end up being a kitten left behind and the result of that would not be a good thingq

this cat needs to see a vet - I checked out the flea product you used and found the main ingredient...this is what I found on it

Pyrethrins and pyrethroids: Pyrethrins are developed from the chrysanthemum plant. Kill adult fleas. Available in sprays and powders that can be used on cats and young animals; however, cats are sensitive to excess amounts of these compounds. Pyrethroids are synthetic pyrethrins, and tend to have more residual action than the pyrethrins. These include products such as permethrin, which should not be used on cats as they are particularly sensitive to its toxic effects.

Thanks.......I'm looking up an emergency vet right now.......she is sleeping at my feet. By the way - she is 20 months old. I've recently had 3 other cats spayed and couldn't afford to do the 4th at the time.

She ran off and hid a few minutws ago - I guess I'm going to have to be on the lookout for a litter of kittens. She couldn't have been very far along - they are about 2-3 inches in length.

As far as the Adams, we have had a severe infestation of fleas for some reason this summer. That is the only thing I found that has worked. Even the Frontline didn't get rid of them.

I will let you know an update from the vet when I get back.

    Thanks!

Kitty is now home. She was taken to the same vet that I took Napster too. He gave her a shot (to help clean her out) and said to just keep a close eye on her. She is still passing babies. Another one just came out - under my computer desk.

The vet wants to see her again on Monday. He said it could be caused by a number of factors - and her temp wasnt too high. I guess it's a wait and see game for now. I thought they would keep her overnight but the vet said there was really no need in it.

oh my....it's probably for the best. Please keep us updated and I hope she continues to do just fine and I'm so happy you got her to the vet quickly rather than taking a wait and see attitude.

Sorry about what you've gone through (and the mama, too) but I wanted to tell you how good it made me feel to know that you've managed to spay three out of four and that you took her to the vet so quickly. :m31:

    - some would have taken a 'wait and see' approach which could have proven fatal had she gotten infected or had an incomplete miscarriage. I hope things go okay for both of you!
