Best age to bring home?

I would like to get everyone's opinions on what is the best age to take home a shih tzu. The one I am looking at will be ready to take home at 8 weeks...is this too young? I read that their brain doesn't fully develop until 12 weeks. When did you bring your baby home?

Eight weeks is pretty much the 'standard' age that people bring home their pups. You should never bring home a pup earlier than that, but 8 weeks is okay. My girls were 8 1/2 weeks when we brought home. I have read that the best time for them to go home is anywhere between 8-12 weeks :)

    Hope that helps!

I agree with the 8 weeks unless the pup is very tiny.

Thank you both for your help :D It's just that I've heard from many sources that people found it easier to train their puppy after 10 weeks than before, thanks again :D

Molly was 10 weeks, and things went very smoothly. No crying at night, ate well, and seemed very well adjusted to not having her mommy.

I got Trixie at 12 weeks but I dont think 8 weeks will be bad. If you want talk to your friend about pickin her up 2 weeks later maybe
