Hello all, hope someone can help or maybe give me some advice, i have a young cat called sassy she is only 10 months old the problem is due to a tail injury she has had to have it amputated, sassy also cant pass urine on her own so the vet inserted a catheter on tuesday and the plan was to remove it on saturday (today) to see if she could go on her own, well i called first thing this morning to be told that sassy had not passed urine on her own so they had to squeeze her bladder to empty it, my question is with this type of injury what's the chances of my beloved cat making a fall recovery, also im in the dilemma of having to decided if it would be kinder for her to be put asleep if she does not get control back of her bladder and how long do i wait to see if she does. Im sorry for going on but i really don't no what to do. thanks for taking the time to read this.

Sassy is being treated by the local pdsa and if im totally honest they are not really telling me alot even though i have asked, all i have been told is she may or may not get control back, i did ask them if they had any clue to how long it could take and they said to give it a week and if she still has not been on her own then to think about having her put asleep, i did think to myself that this was not a long time to give such a traumatic injury a chance to heel.

I'm soooooooo sorry for you and Sassy!

I would definately wait out the week like the vet suggested and see if Sassy will get back control of her bladder. She just may need the chance to heal. I really hope it works and the you and your baby can have many years together.

I'm sending warm hugs and good vibes to you both.

Hi all, thanks so much for your messages its been a great support, anyway i thought i would keep you updated on how sassy is doing, well yesterday i got a call from the vet to say that sassy still had not been able to go to toilet on her own but if i would like to come and pick her up i can, so today i brought sassy home keeping my fingers crossed that maybe she would use her litter tray so after a couple of hours of cuddles and me talking to her and willing her to get better hay presto! sassy went to her litter tray and done her business, so things are looking up at last  :y_the_best:
