help! Sweetpea is Sick

HI everyone,
First off I want to say that I am taking him to the vet as soon as I get off work at noon today. I was wondering is anyone could help me figure out what is wrong. Yesterday morning he threw up. I noticed that he is not eating very much and this morning I noticed he didn't use the litter box all night. this morning he looks like he pooped a little but no evidence of pee. It is hard to tell how much he has used the litter box though because we do have 2 cats. Any ideas? Thanks.

 

possible stones? That's painful but cats hide pain well. A vet visit is definitely in order. Please let us know how this goes. My dog had lots of stones 2 years ago....what a painful thing

 

I have the same thoughts as Mary...possible UTI or stones. Let us know what the vet says.

 

No urination? Your cat's urinary tract could be block. If so, this is a serious situation and needs immediate veterinary attention. Toaxins can back up into the system poisoning your cat.

 

How did the vet visit go? How's your baby now?

 

My cat had kidney stones with a blockage about 2 years ago vet thought they would have to remove the kidney he had stones in both at the time. Sent the cat to a specialist who double dosed him with Batril and Amoxisillian for 2 weeks straight the blockage cleared up. We put him on a special food and within 9 months the kidney stones dissolved he has not had any problems since.

Just wanted to share in case it was stones you were dealing with. My vet wasn't optomistic at first but everything he did with the advise of the specialist worked.

Well, Sweetpea went to the vet on Thursday. He was an angel on the way there and back in the baox. The vet said it appeared as though he was stressed. He offered to do $75 worth of x-rays but said he felt no blockage. He gave him a basic antibiotic in case it was a virus and sent me home. That night I tried to get Sweetpea to eat some wet food (a special treat for him) I couldn't get him to eat any out of the bowl. I put some on his nose to make sure he would eat a little. The next morning when I woke up, Sweetpea led me to the kitchen to freshen up his cat food and started to gobble it down. This weekend he began to eat like normal and is now playing again. The vet wanted me to bring him backon Saturday if he improved over the weekend. Does anyone see a reason why I would need to take him back to the vet? Thanks.

 

could have been a furball. sometimes that blocks them...then they pass it. i dont know that i would take him back if he is back to normal. just watch carefully....

 

Well, my cat did the same thing, stopped eating and wasn't using the litter, please take your cat to the vet and get it some bloodwork and urine done, have them check for CRF, which is kidney failure, I am sad to say that that is what my cat had and ultimately it is not reversible, please do not wait, the longer you wait the more damage can be done, hopefully it is something simple and not this....please go to the vet soon.
