Hi my name is Sarah and I am 13 yrs old and I want to go to Vet school and become a vet. I have always enjoyed having animals around me.But enough about me. My dog,Princess is 3 yrs old.She is a black and tan miniature daschund. I think she may be be pregnant.I am not breeding her but she was in heat and she managed to slip outside when no one was watching. When we noticed she was gone we went out and looked for her.We found her and she came inside. But ever since then shes been acting a little strange. For example she has been sleeping all day and her nipples are pink and large. there seems to be what i think is milk in her nipples but im not sure.so can u give me suggestions how i can actually tell if she is pregnant or not. please give me feedback.

Take her to your Vets. If she is you will have to make a decision to either abort the pregnancy or go ahead and let her have them, but your taking a chance of her and her puppies of dieing if you let her have them. If she is indeed pregnant do you know what breed of dog did the deed, if it was a large dog it can and most definately will kill her. I know I had it happen to a friend of mines dog. She had a cockapoo and she some how got out but came back, my friend didn't take her in to have her checked out, she went into labor and died having the pups, out of the 6 pups she did have only one lived. My friend ( Maizy ) found out that her dog Clover had been impregnanted by a shepard ( the puppies looked just like a shepard ). So PLEASE take her in and have her checked out. [-o<

If she has milk in her teets already don't you think its too late to abort? Bring her in for a check up. If she is, vet will probably want to do an xray to see how many and their size. If too large a cesarian will need to be done.
Do you remember how long its been since she slipped out? Is she getting larger, gaining weight in her middle?
