Live Cat Found In Freezer With Euthanized Animals
Unknown If Cat Was Actually Given Deadly Shot

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- He might still have a little frostbite around the edges, but a cat who spent time in a deep freezer is doing well.

No one would adopt the cat, so the animal shelter in West Palm Beach, Fla., scheduled him to be put to sleep.

No one is sure if he ever received the deadly shot, but he somehow ended up in the shelter's freezer, with the other euthanized animals.

Workers were stunned to find him still alive in the freezer, hours later.

He's been given a reprieve -- and a new name -- Frosty, of course.

I hope the story circulated and people felt sorry for the poor thing and offered to adopt him. Hopefully that cat will live out a happy and healthy life.

I can't imagine that happening. I couldn't fathom the fright and discomfort that cat had to endure. It's veyr sad. :(

Poor Frosty. I wonder if this happens more often than we think.

It's terrible to read about these things, but at least it was an accident...
I read an article in a Norwegian newspaper today: Two Norwegian boys (18 and 19 years old) had microwaved two kitties when they were at a private party! :m3: First they had "grilled" the kitten that lived there, then they had lured the neighbour cat to come inside.... The kitten died, but the cat survived. GRRRRRR! This makes me so MAD! :m3:
Sick, sick people! Imagine what a terrible death! And how scared they must have been

Sounds like utter incompetence and negligence. Everytime a vet or tech performs a service on any animal, it's supposed to be documented. That's the law. Including euthenasia's. I hope this place get's fully investigated.

grrrrr...this just made me so freaking angry

I can't believe you all heard about this story so far away! Ok well this is the same shelter i used to work at, and i assure you that all of the people there working in the clinic truly are compassionate people and that this was simply a freak accident. Please don't assume that they are all incompetent because of this story. I'm also sorry that the cat was put through this as i'm sure it was traumatizing, but thankfully someone found the poor thing before it froze to death. Its very possible that the cat had been heavily sedated and was overlooked among the other cats that had already been euthanized. Of course that doesn't excuse it or make it okay, and i'm sure they will be taking even more extra care to triple check before sending them to the freezer, but please don't think these are bad people, because they are NOT. How many of you have ever made a terrible mistake with your animals that caused them severe discomfort or harm and you sorely regretted your carelessness? Please don't judge them any harsher.

one time a few days after i got shadow she had gotten into the frige, i think she got in there when my brother opended the door, anyway i opend the door a few minutes later and she walked right out of the frige and shook herself. now i make sure to see that she doesn't get in their again. she doesn't help though, she loves to take a look in there.

I wish Frosty find a good home

He gets all the attention now, I hope he finds the best home.
I don't believe that was intentional, my cats sneak in my closet whenever I open to get something so I'd make sure I do the head counts before heading out..
