Hello all, I'm new here and have a question about my cat. Shes 9 years old and recently she has started to act like something is after her. Her back twitches alot near the base of her tail. When it does this she goes crazy like something is after her. She will run and start to lick the carpet really fast and hard. Also she will lick herself and bite her paws. She is on flea medication and doesn't appear to have any fleas right now, however, maybe its a skin allergy. Just wanted others opinons as to what it may or may not be, thanks.

could be a possible allergy or her eyesite might not be what it used to im not saying she's blind im just saying it just may not be perfect.

Did you JUST put the flea medication on and what was it? My dog did this once when she got some Advantage in her mouth.

Hi thanks for the replys. Her flea meds are given once a month and it was not just given to her. She has been doing this for about the past week now. Thanks again for the replys.

Oh well, it was just a thought...

Also, I've noticed that my cat will lick and "scrench" up his back side if something else is bothering him. Like it's displaced irritation. He did it when he had tapeworms. The first time he did it, I was new to the felines and I thought something was wrong with his back foot because he would also stomp that. I got a claw to the face for checking that out--lol. Maybe your cat needs a vet visit to rule out any problems. Good luck

Hey coppersmom, thanks so much for the reply. Yes I believe I'm gonna have to take her for a vet visit to see whats going on. I can't help but get tickled at her sometimes when she acts that way, but at the same time its kinda of pityful. Fine one minute then the next she is running through the house like something is after her. About two days ago she did that and even hollared out, not like in pain necessarily, but like she was mad. Anyway thanks again.
