today when i got home from work, my mother told me that my 5 year old, end stage leukemic cat had extremely labored breathing and could hardly walk let alone stand up. i ran up stairs to my room were he had been in for the last 2-3wks because of triing to not spread to the other cats.

this cat, Minet, was a stray that came to our deck and ate out of the food that we leave out side for my other cats. he would come often but i found that he had a large and seemingly infected absess on his right side. we decided to take him in and get him fixed up and clipped, the doctor determinded himto be about 1-2.5 years old. we had him check for every know feline virus, diseas and illness under the sun since he was a stray but all negative.

this cat was the best i've ever had and he would nuzzle with me and play, sleep on my bed, drink out of my fish tank, eat fish food but one day he started to seem odd. a funloving cat like that would have to have somthing wrong with it if acting so bizzare. he would hide, start losing weight and not eat, he also started to be grumpy with the other cats, he acted like a depresed old man. we took him to the vet because we noticed his lack of enthusiasm. we came back after about 3 hours and the doctor handed us a peice of paper that at the top said "I'm so sorry" we said"what does this mean, is he ok?" the vet said"im sorry but your cat has FeLV, or feline leukemia virus and has had it for a while because he is entering the end stage of it, death" after we realized what had happened, he both started soming becuase my little man wont be with us much longer.i asked" how long?" the doctor said" could be in a week could be in 6 months but i dont know how hard your cat wants to hold on."

today, January 11th,at 4:45, Minet was put to rest at Clark animal hospital.

    R.I.P. Minet Forever...

I am so sorry. But the rainbow in this is this cat, while with you, had a wonderful existence. You made the final time for him full of love and he knew he was cared for.

Hugs to you and I hope he has a safe journey across the Bridge

It's always so very sad to hear about a loss to another pet lover but you are to be commended for loving and caring so well and long for an ill baby. Bless your heart.
