you don't need to keep it wrapped. It needs to get air to it. An abcess is from the wound healping on the outside but not inside and infection gets in there. Keeping it clean 2x a day is a good thing too

My sister just had to put her cat to sleep yesterday because her cat got out and was fighting with other cats in the neighborhood. He came back and wouldn't let her touch his back leg. She took him to the vet to check it out and it turned out that her cat had got leukemia and had a nasty abcess growing inside his leg that was very painful so they put him down. I don't know if it was related or not or if its a standard thing for vets to do the FelV test without you asking, but if there's a chance he coulda picked it up from a cat fight, I would have it checked just to make sure. Hope ervything turns out ok with him!

    Glad that Dog is better!

My kitty from long ago,...don't laugh either...Joe Rockhead was his name...my Joe was a real scrapper, always fighting...I had to ER his little parts on more than one occasion..it was back in the day before Emer. Cat Clinics. The last time though, he had a large lump on his left hind leg and I insisted to my husband that we take him to the vet...can't give up on any animal who is bold enough to pee in your toaster...long story...anyway, Joe Rockhead ran away before we could get him to the vet. I think he knew something was wrong and, typical Joe, ran off to deal with it on his own.

So, best thing is don't worry about the name, Dog it's great! and always look after your little rascal's health.
