t chelle I need your help yet again

for my new 55 gallon I was wondering if you could help me by telling me if there is and colour full big fish that would fit in to my new 55 gallon and for the clycing process what kind of fish could I put in there.

Are you talking a big colorful fish in addition to an oscar, or as an alternative to an oscar? If you have an oscar, really the only thing you can keep with it in a 55 is a pleco. If you want an alternative to an oscar, you could keep a JD (some people say 2 in a 55, but personally, I wouldn't put a pair in anything smaller than a 75), Green Terror, Red Devil, Texas cichlid, & Flowerhorn. All of those would fall under the 50 gallons/fish rule.

If you want 2 or 3 smaller (6") fish, you could go with convicts (beware of keeping males & females together, though), firemouths, Jewels, Severums, Blue Acaras, Parrot cichlids, Angels. And honestly, I think goldfish are pretty underrated. Mine have just as much personality as my oscar does.

For cycling, the absolute best way to do it is to use the fishless method. Rather than putting "sacraficial" fish in the tank and letting them suffer from ammonia & nitrIte poisoning (sure, they're "sacraficial", but they're still living beings), you use pure ammonia to replicate the waste that the fish would produce w/o actually having any in the tank.

do you have any info on pirhanas and how many could go in a 55 gallon and do you have any information on flowerhorns and jewels and any other info would make me happy to

If you're talking about red bellied piranhas, I know someone's going to disagree with me, but personally, I wouldn't keep them in a 55. They prefer to be in groups and I think even three 10" - 12" fish would look really cramped in a 55 gallon tank.

ive got expirence with Parrot cichlids

 

there you have it, all of us have our own little "specialties" lol.....there should be a sticky thread with multiple fishnames and who to contact (they know the most on that type of fish) if they have any questions

does any one now of any cichlids with big bumps on there head for example the bufflo head cichlid I want to have some of them in my tank

 

After a while convicts get bumps on there heads they can live in a 55g good.

 

cichlids that can get nuchal humps:convicts, buffalo-head, flowerhorn, midas, red-devil, bloodparrots, jellybean parrots, viejas, green texas, and a few others.
