I got a phone call from my Dad yesterday saying that theres something wrong with Rusty their 13 year old male red Siberian Husky and that they were taking him to the vet..... I automatically said i would meet them there no questions asked. Rusty is a dog i grew up with on my parents training/breeder farm. He was my dads favorite dog and was his true defination of mans bestfriend. So i got the vet and asked what had happened and my dad was in tears crying. This shocked me because my dads not the kinds guy who cries.... And my mom tells me she had no idea what happened Rusty was sleeping in the living room and when he woke up he got up took a few wobbly steps and collapsed on his side and started shaking. Thats when i got the phone call. My mom said she though they lost him a couple of times in the car but then he's breathing would speed up again. Their vet came out and said that he was pretty much dying slowly and from xrays could see 8 small mass's on his brain and also he heart did'nt seem to be skipping beats and said that there was probley major clotting going on. He said he could do tests to confirm wether the mass's were cancerouse or not and run some other tests but with him being so old he would probley not live through it all. And so my dad decided to put Rusty down. All three of us got to be in the room with him when he went and it was quite a emotional event especially for my dad.

I had to leave to go home but my mom called me when they go home and said dad was a bit better and that they were going to bury Rusty out at the opening of the trail. So its been a pretty bad couple days but im going through trying to not think about by putting all my time and energy into my dogs and other animals. But I also always have alittle peice of Rusty with me Harley is his offspring and so i feel better that i have Harley and that he does remind me of his dad every day.

    RIP RUSTY 1991-2005

    The rainbow bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
