The cat has a injured tail. The vet said that the tail has a 50% chance of falling off cause the hair is falling off does this mean it is going to fall off soon? thank you :?

for a quicker and more accurate response, you might want to post this in the cat section.....as for me, i dont know anything about cats but i would say just because the hair is falling off doesnt mean the tail itself would? come to think of it, all the muscles and bone and ligaments wouldnt just give so i would day that that information you were given was false

    it is very possible

i work at a vet.im a kennel manager and training to be a vet tech. it is very possible that ur cat could lose its tail. I ahve seen this happen. as for it just falling off that i highly doubt. i think it at the worst it will come down to it not healing and you will have to make a decision about amputation. although i did see one case where the tip of the tail just started to fall off small piece by small piece.... we amputated the tail and the cat is perfectly happy and healthy.
