Please help. Any advice what to do to prevent a young cat, 1 1/2 years old, from chewing electrical wires.

:m23: and welcome! Have you tried double sided sticky tape? You can also buy wire covers from hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. My Vene (RIP) bit through a phone wire and a computer speaker wire, both of whom are extinct. We finally put up cardboard over the wires to deter her. You can also try bitter apple products on the wire itself. But I think the double sided sticky tape is most effective. Love to see pics of your kitty! :m7:

Do you wrap all the wires in the double sided tape?

Yep, for all the exposed areas that kitty may attack. Personally, I'd stick only one side of the wire and there should be enough exposed tape on the other side to stick the wire on the wall, or footers. They don't like sticky tapes. If you don't want adhesives on the wires, I'd recommend using the wire covers. They shouldn't be too expensive. Good luck!

    Cats that chew wires

Have you tried using Aluminum foil (tin foil). Wrap it around the exposed wires ~ my cats did not particularly care for aluminum foil on their teeth when biting the wires ~ it only took a couple of nibbles and then they left all the wires alone.

Aluminum foil also works if you don't want the cats on your dressers, tables, cribs. Just lay a section of foil where you don't want them to walk/sleep. They hate the feel on their paws (well, I can say I have only tried this with cats with claws, not sure if it would work as well with declawed kitties).
